Best gender-balanced companies receive awards from UNDP and the Employers’ Association of Georgia
TBILISI. 11 March 2009 – Companies who are the best in attaining principles of gender equality received awards from the UN Development Programme and the Georgian Employers’ Association. The event was part of the Gender Week 2009. Rusudan Kervalishvili, Parliament Vice-Speaker and Head of the Gender Equality Council at the Georgian Parliament Chairperson, and Elguja Meladze, head of the Georgian Employers’ Association, awarded the winneres in the following nominations: gender balance in decision-making positions and gender equality in employment. This is the third annual competition in Georgia. Initiated and supported by the UNDP’s Gender and Politics project, it aims to encourage gender-sensitive approaches and provide more information on gender equality.
