Gender Week 2009 – civil society organizations present results of their work

TBILISI. 6 March 2009 – More than 20 non-governmental organizations who seek to promote gender equality in Georgia, presented their achievements today, 6 March, sat the culture centre "Muse".

The Expo was part of the Gender Week 2009 organized by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in co-operation with the Gender Equality Council at the Chairperson of the Georgian Parliament and the JSI Research and Study Institute.

The Expo featured the best gender-related initiatives undertaken by Georgia’s civil society. It hosted a photo exhibition, round table discussions, and a folk trade sale. In addition, the organizations will present around 15 documentaries made in recent years to feature the gender equality situation in the country.  

The event was opened by Sophie Kemkhadze, deputy head of UNDP in Georgia. Members of the parliament, representatives of the United Nations, international organizations and the government attended.
